PyCharm Installation for iOS: The Current State and Future Plans

As we continue to work towards making our products compatible with M1 chips, we are excited to share the current state of PyCharm installation for iOS devices.

Currently, we are working closely with Microsoft (MSFT) to resolve several issues related to the NET Core runtime and its support for M1 chips. This collaboration is crucial in ensuring a seamless experience for developers using our products on Apple Silicon devices.

In recent updates, we have made significant progress in moving the frontend of our IDEs, including IDEA, to native mode, making them compatible with M1 chips. However, bringing support for M1 chips to Rider has proven to be a more complex task due to its unique architecture, which consists of a frontend (IDEA) and backend (ReSharper as a language service), along with the RD protocol in between.

Unfortunately, we do not have good news regarding the immediate availability of PyCharm installation for iOS devices. The work is still ongoing, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
